USA Network has announced today that Mr. Robot will be returning next year for a fourth and final season, which will consist of 12 episodes. Creator, Sam Esmail, also shared a message to fans on his Twitter account.

USA Network today announced the fourth and final season of the award-winning MR. ROBOT will return in 2019. From Universal Cable Productions (UCP), production will begin this winter in New York.

Creator, showrunner and director Sam Esmail confirmed the news. “When I first created the world of MR. ROBOT, I thought it would be a niche television series with a small, cult following,” said Esmail. “Over the past three years, it has become so much more, and I am continually humbled by the show’s recognition and by the amazing cast and crew that work tirelessly to help bring my vision to life. Since day one, I’ve been building toward one conclusion – and in breaking the next season of MR. ROBOT, I have decided that conclusion is finally here. Everyone on the creative team, including the amazing people at USA and UCP, didn’t want to say goodbye, but we ultimately have too much respect for Elliot’s journey to extend past its inevitable ending. Therefore, Season 4 will serve as the final chapter of the MR. ROBOT story. To fans of the show: thank you for the past three years, and I can’t wait to share this exciting final season with you.”

“From the beginning, MR. ROBOT proved to be a show unlike any other on television, capturing the zeitgeist of our modern times with a unique point of view and definitive vision,” said Chris McCumber, President, USA Network. “Working with Sam and the entire cast and crew has been nothing short of incredible – and we can’t wait to reveal the complete MR. ROBOT story.”

Dawn Olmstead and George Cheeks, co-presidents of Universal Cable Productions: “The story of MR. ROBOT is completely original and exhilarating – striking a cultural chord at just the right time. As we begin production on the final chapter of this iconic series, we want to thank Sam for his unparalleled vision, the masterful crew and the passionate cast who breathe life into these rich characters.”

MR. ROBOT follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a cyber-security engineer who, along with Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) and fsociety, starts a revolution to change the world. Season 4 will pick up where the third season finale left off, delving into the pros and cons of Elliot hitting “send” on the email that could reverse 5/9. The series stars Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe® nominee Malek, Golden Globe Award winner Slater, Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallström, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer and Emmy Award nominee BD Wong. MR. ROBOT hails from writer, director and executive producer Esmail, as well as Anonymous Content executive producers Steve Golin and Chad Hamilton.

One of Martin’s upcoming films, Parallel, will be premiering at this year’s Fantasia Festival on July 22nd! The film also stars Aml Ameen, Alyssa Diaz, David Harewood, Georgia King, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Quinlan. Check out two high-quality production stills in our gallery! Also, here’s an extensive synopsis via the festival’s website:

A group of young tech developers, Josh (Marc O’Brien), Carmen (Alyssa Diaz), Lena (Georgia King), Devin (Aml Ameen) and Noel (Martin Wallström), struggle to strike partnerships with possible business investors. After receiving some bad news, the group returns to their rental house to strategize, but their brainstorming session is cut short when they discover a portal to a multiverse hidden in their attic. World-hopping through a supernatural gateway, they quickly begin to gather knowledge between dimensions for their benefit, both professional and interpersonal. Some capitalize by stealing time from elsewhere, others moonlight in foreign dimensions gathering credit for stolen work. This illusory time-warp chronicle has marshalled the protagonists’ dissatisfied self-images by looking to differing times and spaces to in order to conjure personal change. But as the characters ambitiously double and substitute as they please, seemingly innocent “Groundhog Day-ing” turns to playing with fire. In efforts to improve their lives, terrible consequences quickly begin to outweigh the good in tragic and disturbing ways.
